Single Buyer Building, 17 July 2025 – A Technical Sharing Session by Energy Exemplar was recently held at the Single Buyer Meeting Room in conjunction with their visit to Sabah. The session aimed to strengthen internal modelling capabilities and explore advanced simulation tools to support more effective energy planning and decision-making.
The session featured a detailed introduction and live demonstration of the PLEXOS Cloud platform, highlighting its scalable cloud compute capabilities, integrated analytics, workflow automation, and advanced visualization features. This was followed by an in-depth discussion on Single Buyer’s data workflow requirements, including expectations for simulation performance, data input/output handling, and analytical needs.
Participants also explored advanced modelling techniques for combined-cycle gas turbines (CCGTs), particularly the configuration of primary and secondary fuels to better reflect real-world operations. A hands-on session on battery dispatch modelling, using a sample case, offered practical insights into the role of battery storage in system planning.
To round off the session, a refresher on long-term (LT) modelling techniques was delivered to reinforce foundational modelling principles essential for strategic planning.
The session was attended by En. Mohd Saiful Zam Sarini bin Mohammad, Head of Integrated System Planning (ISP), along with team members from the Energy Resource Planning and Capacity Planning units under the ISP Department. This knowledge-sharing initiative reflects Single Buyer’s ongoing commitment to continuous improvement and alignment with global best practices in energy system modelling and planning.
